The Semiconductor Industry Association of Australia (SIAA) exists to unite, represent and grow Australia’s semiconductor sector. Our mission is to build a strong and sovereign semiconductor capability that supports innovation, national security, economic resilience, and global competitiveness.
Australia has world-class talent in research, design and advanced technologies — yet much of this potential remains untapped. SIAA brings together industry leaders, startups, researchers, educators, and government stakeholders to turn that potential into action. We advocate for local manufacturing, enable global collaboration, and work to secure supply chains for the technologies that power everything from AI and defence to clean energy and space.
As the national voice of the semiconductor industry, we help shape policy, support investment, and champion the critical role semiconductors play in Australia’s future. Whether you're a researcher with a breakthrough idea, a company developing cutting-edge chips, or a policymaker working to secure Australia's tech future — SIAA is here to connect, amplify and support you.
The semiconductor industry in Australia is in its infancy compared to other countries around the world. Australia has demonstrated astonishing growth during the past years in compound semiconductors and photonics. The Semiconductor Industry Association of Australia (SIAA) was founded in May 2025 to promote the cooperation and further development of an Australian semiconductor industry. SIAA will look to incorporate industry and associate members, including companies engaged in semiconductor R&D, design, wafer manufacturing, packaging, testing, equipment and materials. SIAA aims to help the semiconductor industry in Australia remain on a competitive edge through various domestic and international activities, seminars, symposia, trainings, networking, etc. to strengthen business connection and broaden business scope for its member companies. SIAA also endeavors to build up constructive relationship between the local industry and corresponding international organisations, such as the World Semiconductor Council (WSC), World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS), JEDEC Solid State Technology Association(JEDEC) to help enhance the competitiveness of the Australian semiconductor industry as a whole.
1. To Promote Cooperation Among Different Sectors in the Local Semiconductor Industry 2. To Participate in Global Standard Setting and Activities Related to the Development of the Semiconductor Industry 3. To Engage in International Negotiations on Behalf of the Local Industry 4. To Provide Consultation and Services for its Member Companies 5. To Create Better Communications Among its Member Companies and With Other Industry Associations 6. To Provide Suggestions to the Government on Industrial Policies
Participating in international activities Actively engaged in international organizations such as the World Semiconductor Council (WSC), World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS), JEDEC Solid State Technology Association, etc.; providing members with the latest global semiconductor-related regulations, technology trends and market forecasts; and cooperating with JEDEC and SEMI for the international standard related events. Organizing seminars, training courses, international conferences and meetings Regularly organising domestic and international seminars in the areas of technology, IC design, packaging, testing, market forecasting, ESH (Environment, Safety and Health), intellectual property and finance; training courses, international conferences, such as e- Manufacturing, JEDEC Summits and WSC/ JSTC meetings. International negotiation Devoted to international negotiations of interest to the semiconductor industry in Australia. Networking and local cooperation Hosting networking activities to link the chip and device makers with customers and design companies; working closely with associations representing different sectors of the local community, for example to better ensure extensive contacts among the semiconductor industry and other industries. SIAA aims to develop internal sections to specifically target the following areas: • Environment, Safety and Health (ESH) Committee • Market Information Committee • Finance Committee • IC Design Committee • Industry & University Committee • Energy Committee • Industry Strategy Committee
